Slavonice is a small historical town in southwestern Moravia. It lies approximately one kilometer north of the border with Austria, on both sides of the Slavonic stream. Thanks to the preserved historical core of the town, Slavonice is nicknamed “little Telč” or “the pearl of the West Moravian Renaissance”. Slavonice is the westernmost town in Moravia, but located in the South Bohemian Region – a remnant of the chaotic communist administrative reform of 1960.
An asphalt cycle path on the former Slavonice – Waidhofen/Thaya railway line starts at the car park behind the station. It is 28 km long and straight as a shot. An excellent tip for a day trip.
