Cornštejn Castle (Zornstein) stands on a promontory surrounded by the Dyjí River on three sides, near a highland settlement from the Late Stone Age. Its name is derived from the German Zorn (anger) and Stein (stone, rock), which was meant to express the strength and strength of the castle. It was built by Raimund of Lichtenburg sometime in the 1420s. The castle served its purpose until 1576, when, as part of the Bítov estate, it fell into the hands of the Štrejn family from Švarcenava, who stopped maintaining the castle.

It is pronounced in Czech with a “C”.
